In 1968, Student Support Services was created by the Department of Education, which was originally known as Special Services for Disadvantaged Students, was authorized by the Higher Education Amendments to provide funding for institutions of higher education to create opportunities for academic development, assist students with basic college requirements, and to motivate students toward the successful completion of their postsecondary education. Student Support Services at Paul Quinn was established in 1996.

Our mission, in alignment with Paul Quinn’s mission, is to create opportunities for academic achievement, cultural enrichment, personal development, as well as career and professional development.

Eligibility Requirements for Student Participants:

  • First-Generation Student (first person in your immediate family to attain a 4-year degree at a University or College)

  • Low income

  • Have a documented disability or,

  • Have an academic need

  • Professional and Cultural Development

  • Resource Referral

  • School Supplies
