In 1968, Student Support Services was created by the Department of Education, which was originally known as Special Services for Disadvantaged Students, was authorized by the Higher Education Amendments to provide funding for institutions of higher education to create opportunities for academic development, assist students with basic college requirements, and to motivate students toward the successful completion of their postsecondary education. Student Support Services at Paul Quinn was established in 1996.
